Das Sinusknotensyndrom, auch Sick-Sinus-Syndrom genannt, ist eine Erkrankung des Sinusknotens, die — mit einigen Ausnahmen — bei Patienten mittleren und höheren Alters vorkommt. Die wahrscheinlichste Ätiologie ist ein degenerativer Prozess im Sinusknoten mit häufiger Beteiligung des AV-Knotens. Andere Ursachen sind koronare Herzkrankheit (KHK), infektiöse Krankheiten und andere, seltene Zustände. Klinisch bleibt die Ätiologie oft unklar, weshalb sie dann als „unbekannt“ bezeichnet wird. Im Abschnitt „Im Detail“ wird auch das Karotissinussyndrom, das sich vom Sick-Sinus-Syndrom unterscheidet, kurz diskutiert.
