Abstract
Treating a patient with the right custom orthotics, rather than a generic device, requires both an understanding of the pathomechanics of the symptoms or deformity and an understanding of the variety of materials available and the techniques to assemble them. This chapter will describe orthotic materials and explain their relationship to flexibilities as well as the various correction techniques, orthotic extensions, and additions to treat various pathologies.
