Abstract

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition that can affect the skin, joints and nails; the cutaneous lesions of psoriasis can cause considerable discomfort and embarrassment to affected patients. While topical steroids, phototherapy and systemic medications are often used to treat psoriasis, there is a growing body of evidence to support the use of alternative treatment methods, either as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy depending on the extent of disease.
