Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to outline the organization and functions involved in providing for the management of in-service assets over their lifetime, and to describe the formation of asset management plans for in-service assets. Outcomes After reading this chapter you will be aware of the types of activities needed for management of the deployed assets of the organization. This includes the need for having an integrated overview of the deployed assets and of the planning needed to provide support and sustainment of the “fleet” as a whole on a through life basis. You will have seen how asset management plans are developed for an in-service asset fleet as a whole for given planning horizons. You will also be aware of the need for configuration management for the fleet.
