Abstract
Interstellar space is filled with cold hydrogen gas that radiates at a wavelength of 21 cm, in the radio band. The spectral line is shifted in wavelength (the Doppler effect) due to motion toward or away from the Sun so that observations of the hydrogen line reveal fascinating details about clouds in interstellar space.
