Abstract
Throughout the first 25 years of AO’s history, many different personalities had an enormous impact on the direction of the organization. In order to appreciate their many contributions, it is necessary to consider their full range of talents, both professionally and personally, that have combined to build this enterprise. Today, diversity is a term that is used extensively in describing organizations but it was just as relevant when the AO was created. It is not possible to mention all of the players involved with making the AO what it is today, but it is important to consider the range of talents, from various cultures, that came together to make their contributions, each utilizing their own strengths and experiences.
