Abstract
Increases in the price of conventional forms of energy and in many cases reductions in their availability are now generally understood to be inevitable. This is due to a number of factors:
-
the finite nature of most conventional forms of energy
-
the inordinate power over oil price of the OPEC cartel
-
the regional and international discrepancies that exist between energy supply and demand
-
the potentially serious health and environmental questions regarding the use of nuclear fuels and coal
-
the increasing demands being made from Third World countries for fossil fuels as they continue to industrialize
-
the increasing demand for all forms of energy in the developed world.
