Reactions of Nitroxyl Radicals with Saturation of the Free Valence

Abstract

In the preceding chapter, we discussed general features of the synthesis of nitroxyl radicals and, to some extent, questions of reactivity connected with their reactions not involving the free valence. The stability of nitroxyl radicals, which enables such reactions to be carried out, is, however, extremely limited. In actual fact, these radicals possess a high chemical activity, and, under suitable conditions, they take part in all reactions characteristic of free radicals.
