Abstract

More needless mystery probably surrounds the Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) seven layer model than any other aspect of MAP and TOP networks. The definition of the model is itself an international standard (ISO 7498), drafted by a committee — technical committee TC97, sub-committee 16, or TC97/SC16 — set up by the International Standards Organization (ISO) in 1977.
