Abstract

An interesting problem concerning the high Tc oxides is the metastability of certain high temperature superconducting phase. For example, superconducting transitions from 40 K to 80 K were reported in the Y-Sr-Cu-O system [1–4]. However, the superconducting phase has not been determined due to the existence of multiphase in this system. Oda et al. [2] proposed a tetragonal phase and Wu et al. [4] suggested an orthorhombic structure for the superconducting compound of stoichiometry YSr2Cu3O6+y (YSCO).
