Abstract
If properly excavated and poured, framed and waterproofed, insulated, equipped, and backfilled, the earth shelter home will not only look better for longer but may even be more economical to build and live in than homes where little attention is given to construction practices. The most well-thought-out plans and designs are useless unless the appropriate materials and construction techniques are used. When an owner knows what to be aware of in the construction sequence, the right questions can be asked of the construction personnel, thus insuring that all the right steps are taken.
