Abstract
The binding of estrogen to specific cytoplasmic and nuclear “receptor” proteins in the uterus is now well established. Temporal analyses of nuclear and cytoplasmic receptor forms following the administration of estradiol indicate that, after its formation in the cell, the cytoplasmic hormone-receptor complex is transferred to the nucleus where it is associated with chromatin material (1–4).
