Abstract
The selection of a hydrogen liquefaction cycle depends on the use to which the liquefier must be put. In a small laboratory, liquefier safety, reliability, simplicity, and initial cost would most likely be the main items of consideration. On the other hand, if the stress is on low operating cost in a large production operation, careful consideration must be given to thermodynamic efficiency.
