Abstract
The importance of biological factors in human sexual functioning is clearly delineated in the work of William Masters and Virginia Johnson (1966). The same investigators also demonstrated highly successful results in the treatment of sexual dysfunction when using a therapeutic approach influenced by the observations established in the laboratory (Masters and Johnson, 1970). Since their initial reports, there has been an ever-increasing interest on the part of other biologically oriented scientific investigators in applying their own particular disciplines to the study and understanding of sexual function.
