Abstract
Evaluating management platforms is a necessary step whether one takes a technology or a business perspective. This chapter is intended to provide a summary of evaluation criteria to be used in the selection of network and systems management platforms, as required by the business needs of most corporations and institutions. These criteria can be used in the development of specific requests for information or requests for proposal as well as to build evaluation matrices and weigh vendor responses so as to decide on the best suited solution.
