Abstract

Food usage is influenced by its availability (supply and cost) and also by social and religious customs. Throughout history, access to food and its supply was a major human concern, and remains as a high priority. In many nations and regions of the world, food-consumption patterns are relatively fixed, and changes are relatively few and slow to occur. Food use generally closely follows those of preceding generations, whereby people continue to consume the same kinds of foods that were eaten during childhood.
