Nursing Aspects of Epidermolysis Bullosa: A Comprehensive Approach

Abstract

Although much has been written, in this text and elsewhere, about diagnostic classification, mode of inheritance, and clinical manisfestations of epidermolysis bullosa (EB),1–5 relatively little has been said about wound care for affected individuals. This points to the need for more clinical research in this area. This chapter focuses on our experiences with wound care, and prevention and management of common complications of EB; we provide a general overview of clinical problems and guidelines for delivering comprehensive care.
