Abstract
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was proclaimed in 1971. It is the result of the union between seven emirates, namely, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujeirah. It has a surface area of about 77,700 km2 with the bulk of its territory being desert or semidesert. Abu Dhabi Emirate comprises 80% of UAE surface area and gives the federation its capital by the same name. The UAE is located in the heart of the Arabian Gulf region. It is bordered by Gulf water to the north and northwest, by Qatar and Arabia to the west, by Oman and Arabia to the south, and by Oman Gulf to the east. It is located between the two latitudes 22 and 26.5 degrees to the north and the two longitudes 51 and 56.5 to the east.
