Abstract
Europe has a significant potential of wind, biomass, solar, and geothermal energy. Southern Europe with 300 approximately sunny and warm days per year, northern and islands’ area with wind, an average wind speed exceeding 7.5 m/s and an important number of geothermal fields, Europe has all the criteria for wind, solar, and geothermal energy production. As the energy demand is projected to grow more and more over the next years, the biomass potential can cover a high percentage of its total energy consumption.
