Abstract
Having examined the factors which determined the general demand for labour and explored some of the mechanisms which functioned to differentiate those people seeking jobs, our primary concern in this chapter is to explain the position of youths in the labour market. Given the sex segregation of the labour market we will also attempt to account for the concentration of young males and females in different parts of the youth labour market.
