Abstract

In the design of above-ground drainage systems, a division is made into pipes for conveyance of water-bound discharges (wastes) and those for conveyance of human discharges (soil pipes). Below-ground drainage installations are classified by two divisions but using the titles:

  1. (a)

    surface water or rainwater drains; and

  2. (b)

    foul water drains.
