Summary

The evolution of the surgical technique was a fortuitous observation by a master surgeon with a keen sense of awareness. What some may have thought was a complication has developed into a procedure that in our experience does no harm, and greatly improves the surgical exposure in knee surgery for the stiff, ankylosed joint, and revision knee surgery.
