E-health for Clinical Disorders

The Topical Collection focuses on e-health techniques for clinical disorders in order to improve health and well-being. We invite scholars to introduce and/or discuss methods, initiatives and projects that use digital approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of clinical disorders. We particularly welcome papers in the areas of internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy, telemedicine or ehealth effectiveness, diagnosis, and treatment via mobile applications, virtual reality for optimization, treatment, or rehabilitation, social media for psychological support or health campaigns, serious games for mental and behavior changes. Furthermore, digital health technologies for provider-patient or family contact, consumer health informatics (e.g., personal health records and tracking). In addition, COVID-19 has impacted millions of individuals worldwide since its breakout in December 2019. In addition to the physical and financial risks, the COVID-19 pandemic has had significant social and psychological consequences for our global societies. The widespread misinformation, social distancing policies, and concurrent occupational stressors associated with such a highly contagious disease have long-term consequences on individual mental health, resulting in a variety of emotional disorders (e.g., irrational anxiety and fear) and problematic behaviors. This circumstance has necessitated the rapid development of efficient strategies to alleviate psychological distress and nd promote healthy behaviors towards COVID-19. In order to improve our health and well-being, this special issue will also cover articles related to COVID-inspired e-health initatives.

    Dr. Eid Abo Hamza, Associate Professor, Ajman University, UAE; Tanta University, Egypt He received his PhD in Counselor education from the University of Arkansas, 2011 (CACREP accredited program). Eid is also a member in the American Counseling Association (ACA). He has more than 40 research papers in various international journals, 5 published books, and 11 chapters in books by Elsevier. Dr. Abo Hamza’s research interests are on drug abuse, anxiety, depression, and family dynamics. His interests in the field of clinical disorders cover topics such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and PTSD.
