Sustainable technologies for conversion of agro-waste to value added products – Status 2024

This thematic issue aims to offer a comprehensive exploration of various aspects related to the conversion of agro-waste into value-added products. From advancements in technologies leveraging the potential of waste streams to circular bio-economy strategies reshaping resource utilization, the issue will highlight the evolving landscape of sustainable practices. Researchers, scientists, and experts are, therefore, encouraged to contribute their insights, innovations, and discoveries. This thematic issue welcomes contributions on a range of topics: • Innovative Biomass Conversion Technologies: Explore the latest technologies that facilitate the efficient and sustainable conversion of agro-waste into value-added products. • Biorefinery Concepts for Agro-Waste: Delve into the concept of bio-refineries and their application in extracting multiple high-value products from various components of agro-waste. • Sustainable Packaging Materials from Agro-Waste: Examine the development of sustainable packaging materials derived from agricultural residues and their potential applications in reducing environmental impact. • Bioenergy Production from Agro-Waste: Explore sustainable technologies for producing bio-energy from agro-waste, including bio-fuel and other renewable energy sources. • Pharmaceutical Applications of Agro-Residues: Investigate the use of agro-residues in pharmaceutical industries for the development of novel drugs and therapeutic compounds. • Biodegradable Plastics from Agro-Waste: Examine advancements in creating biodegradable plastics from agricultural residues, contributing to reducing plastic pollution. • Circular Economy in Agriculture: Investigate strategies and technologies that align with the principles of a circular economy, promoting the reuse and repurposing of agricultural waste for valuable product creation. Please read the full Call for Papers for additional details The focus of this thematic issue is on original research papers with novel findings and new results meetings the highest scientific standards in the research field outlined above. Research papers falling within the scope of this Call and presented at the International Conference “Sustainable Research in Energy and Environment (SREE-2024)” are welcome. Review papers are typically rejected. They are only exceptionally accepted if they are tackling a clearly new question and / or providing new and in-depth insights into a specific topic.
