Special Issue: Securing the Future: Advancements in B5G/6G Mobile Internet Security for the Digital Transformation Era

The rapid evolution of mobile communication technologies has always been at the forefront of shaping our modern society. From the early days of 2G to the widespread adoption of 4G LTE, each generation has brought about transformative changes, enabling us to connect, communicate, and access information like never before. However, as we stand on the cusp of the next technological leap, with the emergence of Beyond 5G (B5G) and the eagerly awaited 6G networks, we find ourselves on the brink of a paradigm shift that will redefine the mobile internet landscape in ways we can only imagine.

The promises of B5G and 6G networks are grandiose and visionary. These advanced mobile communication technologies are expected to unlock unprecedented capabilities and elevate connectivity to levels we have yet to experience. As we enter the era of digital transformation, they hold the potential to revolutionize various industries and domains, from healthcare and education to transportation and entertainment. The sheer speed, capacity, and low latency offered by these technologies will empower a plethora of new applications and services that can enhance our lives in unimaginable ways. For instance, B5G and 6G networks can facilitate seamless remote surgeries with haptic feedback, enhance virtual collaboration among geographically dispersed teams, and enable immersive educational experiences for students worldwide. The transformative potential of these technologies extends far beyond individual convenience, contributing to the growth of smart cities and sustainable infrastructure through the Internet of Things (IoT), intelligent transportation systems, and energy-efficient solutions.

Nevertheless, this wave of progress is not without its challenges. With each new technological leap, there come accompanying risks that must be effectively addressed to ensure a safe and secure digital landscape. As we embrace the immense potential of B5G/6G networks, we must be prepared to confront new security challenges that can arise. The integration of mobile internet technology with these advanced networks, along with the intertwining of quantum computing and generative AI, introduces an entirely new dimension of complexity to the cybersecurity landscape. Security has always been a paramount concern in the realm of technology, but with the rise of these converging technologies, we find ourselves facing unique and novel security challenges. The sheer scale of interconnected devices and data flow within future mobile internet systems requires robust and innovative security measures to protect sensitive information, prevent data breaches, and safeguard against cyber threats. Failure to address these challenges adequately could lead to catastrophic consequences, not only for individuals and businesses but for the overall fabric of our interconnected society.

To ensure a safe and trustworthy future for mobile internet systems, it is crucial for researchers, industry experts, and policymakers to come together to anticipate and respond to emerging security issues and threats. This collective effort will help in formulating comprehensive strategies to tackle potential vulnerabilities effectively. A collaborative approach will enable the development of state-of-the-art encryption techniques, secure authentication protocols, and robust intrusion detection systems, all of which are essential components for safeguarding the integrity of future mobile internet ecosystems.

This special issue aims to explore the latest research trends and cutting-edge innovations in future mobile internet security, with a specific focus on the unique and novel security challenges and opportunities that arise as B5G/6G networks, quantum computing, and generative AI interoperate with mobile internet technologies in digital transformation environments. It invites researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government to submit their original research papers, reviews, and case studies that contribute to the advancement of future mobile internet security in the digital transformation era.

Topics of submission include, but are not limited to:

- Security architectures and protocols for BQG-MIT-DT

- Threat modeling and risk assessment for BQG-MIT-DT

- Machine learning and AI-driven security solutions for BQG-MIT-DT

- Blockchain-based security mechanisms for BQG-MIT-DT

- Secure edge computing and fog computing in BQG-MIT-DT

- Cryptographic software and hardware optimization for BQG-MIT-DT

- Quantum-resistant encryption and cryptography for BQG-MIT-DT

- Malware analysis and defense in BQG-MIT-DT

Submission Form

This Special Issue will consist of: (1) the best submissions from an open Call for Papers, selected on a competitive basis; and (2) invited papers that are extended or modified versions of selected papers accepted at the 7th International Conference on Mobile Internet Security (MobiSec 2023) at https://isyou.biz/conf/mobisec23/. In the latter case, the submission will be a substantial revision of the conference publication, and the authors will be required to submit a letter detailing the difference between their conference paper and the new version. All submitted papers and invited papers will go through a peer reviewing process; if an invited conference paper does not receive a satisfactory review, the paper will not be considered for the Special Issue.
