The Emirates Lunar Mission's Rashid Rover: Science and Instrumentation
- Submission status
- Closed
This issue presents the mission science developments, instrumentation and experiments on-board the Rashid-1 lunar rover mission. This micro-rover was designed and built at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Its scientific goals were to investigate in-situ the lunar surface conditions like microscopic regolith structures and the lunar electron sheath, as well as the interaction of different materials with the regolith. While the lander spacecraft carrying the Rashid-1 rover did not achieve soft landing in the Atlas crater, these developments have resulted in a heritage rover design which could be deployed anywhere on the Moon.
