Power Grid on Energy Transition with High Penetration of Renewables

We are inviting submissions to Special Issue of Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology on the subject of “Power Grid on Energy Transition with High Penetration of Renewables”. Many countries around the world are planning to highly increase the generation dependency on renewable energy sources in near future. Then, new constraints placed by the environmental and economic factors and by the availability of renewable energy sources will bring critical challenges to electric energy controllability, reliability, and sustainability, etc. To handle this issue, the innovative and effective methodologies for control, operation, planning, and market of future power grid are significantly required, while dealing with the uncertainty and variability of renewable energy sources.

The objective of this special issue is to address, discuss, and present the novel theories, methods, and applications to the power grid on energy transition with high penetration of renewables. Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to:

* Control

• Methods to obtain the grid-connected flexibility and maximize the hosting capacity

• Control and operation to obtain the proper power reserves

• Application of grid-forming inverters

• Effective dynamic simulation methods and modeling

• Cooperative operation and energy management of transmission and distribution systems

• Improvement of stability with respect to frequency and voltage of system

* Operation and planning

• Security Issues of power systems in high renewable energy penetration

• Operation strategies for security issues of future power systems

• Planning practices suitable for evaluating the impact of high renewable penetration

• Power system planning and operational models for flexibility assessment

• Establishment of secure operation strategies considering forecasting renewable energy generation

• Operation and planning methodologies for distribution systems

* Market

• Design of markets for energy, capacity, flexibility, and ancillary services

• Electricity market risk management

• Electricity market bidding strategies

• Multi-energy systems and market coupling

• Transmission and distribution network cost allocation and tariff design
