Emergency Departments (EDs) across the globe continue to operate at over-capacity due to boarding, crowded space and staffing constraints. Crowded EDs represent a public health emergency as they cause preventable patient deaths or poor outcomes. The factors contributing to overcrowding and access block are complex and multi-faceted which requires a persistent and coordinated response.
This collection will highlight innovation and novel perspectives in addressing this important global health problem.
The peer review process for these articles is the same as the peer review process of the journal in general. Additionally, if the guest editor(s) authors an article in their special issue, they will not handle the peer review process.
