This collection brings together a series of original papers and reviews authored by experts in their respective fields to outline state of the art and future directions for respiratory associated fungal disease in the fourth industrial revolution.

  • Sanjay H. Chotirmall

    Sanjay H. Chotirmall, M.D., Ph.D. is Provost’s Chair in Molecular Medicine at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore). As an internationally recognized clinician-scientist, he has established a Translational Respiratory Research Group, with focus on infection, inflammation, and immunity in the context of chronic inflammatory respiratory diseases affecting Asian populations. His research interests include bronchiectasis, pulmonary infection, and the microbiome.

  • Anand Shah

    Dr Anand Shah is a Consultant Respiratory Physician with a specialist interest in respiratory fungal disease at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK and a MRC funded fellow in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, School of Public Health at Imperial College London, UK. His research interests focus on understanding host-pathogen interaction and analysing the evolution and acquisition of antifungal resistance in individuals with respiratory fungal disease, alongside the use of machine learning in big data and medical imaging to improve diagnosis and outcomes.

  • Darius Armstrong-James

    Dr Darius Armstrong-James is a Reader in Infectious Diseases and Medical Mycology in the Department of Microbiology, Imperial College London and honorary consultant physician in infectious diseases and medical mycology to the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust and Imperial College Healthcare. His research is primarily on innate immunity to Aspergillus fumigatus with a particular focus on macrophage cell biology and signal transduction.
