Special Issue of Neurochemical Research Volume 50, 2025 in Memory of Prof. Arne Schousboe

I, together with our Associate Editors, would like to invite those who have collaborated with Prof. Arne Schousboe in the field of brain energy metabolism - astrocyte function and GABA and glutamate metabolism, and those who have associated with him in science to submit a publication in his memory (Arne Schousboe 1944-2024) for a Special Issue that also marks the 50th Volume of Neurochemical Research.

Arne was a long-time member of the journal, publishing one of its first articles (Neurochem. Res., Vol. 2(2) 217–29, 1977) and as the journal’s Editor-in-Chief since 2011. He was also Editor for the Springer series Advances in Neurobiology. He was one of pioneers in the early discipline of Neurochemistry, and a significant contributor to the field and as organizer of many of the internationally associated scientific organizations (ASN, ESN, ISN, NTS, and the ICBEM meetings) during the past + 50 years.

I would like to continue Arne’s plan of recognizing the journal’s Volume 50, and appropriately dedicate it to his memory.

All submissions, including those that are invited, will be subject to peer review. We will also provide authors with editorial support throughout the writing and peer review process. Please review the journal submission guidelines for more details. We welcome original research papers, review articles, as well as commentaries as submissions to the special issue (https://link.springer.com/journal/11064/submission-guidelines).
