Special Issue: Bright ICT: Security, Privacy and Risk Issues

Bright ICT a 2015 initiative of the Association of Information Systems introduced by Prof J.K. Lee refers to grand vision of a bright society enabled by ICT. Bright ICT research involves taking a holistic view in the design of ICT enabled future society (Lee, 2016; Lee, Cho and Lim, 2018). The concept of Bright ICT entails the development of relevant technologies, business models, public policies, social norms, international agreements, metrics of measuring national progress and preventing undesirable activities on the Internet. Bright ICT at the center of discussions on adoption or modification of technologies, policies, and organizations from which new business models that create a bright safe internet can evolve.

This special issue will invite some of the papers that are presented at, and appear in the Proceedings of the IFIP WG 8.6 2019 conference (https://ugbs.ug.edu.gh/ifipwg86-2019/), which was held June 21- 22, 2019 in Accra, Ghana.

Since the Proceedings of IFIP WG 8.6 2019 was published as a volume in Springer, each invited paper will be requested to substantially extend its Proceedings version by introducing (50% or more) new materials. Each submission will be peer reviewed.

Submission Instruction

Manuscripts must be submitted in PDF format to the ISF-Springer online submission system at http://www.editorialmanager.com/isfi/ and the authors need to select the question "Security, Privacy and Risk Issues on Bright ICT? (IFIPWG_8.6_Accra_Special Issue)" during the submission process. Paper submissions must conform to the format guidelines of Information Systems Frontiers available at http://www.springer.com/business/business+information+systems/journal/10796. Submissions should be approximately 32 pages double spaced including references.

Topics of interests include, but are not limited to:

Unintended consequences of technology adoption and how to address technostress and cybercrime.

Privacy issues in the design, adoption and diffusion of technology in the emergency management, health, entertainment, government, political and criminal justice sectors.

Identification of risk factors and barriers to success in emerging technology adoption and strategies for addressing them.

Security, privacy and risk issues with the use of social media in crisis management.

Ethics in the adoption of Internet of Things, Big Data Analytics, wearables and mobile technology

Security, privacy and risk issues with the design of smart cities

Effect of legal framework on reducing security, privacy and risk issues in design, adoption and diffusion of technology

Initial paper submission deadline: December 30, 2019

First round authors notification: February 15, 2020

Invited revisions deadline: March 30, 2020

Second round authors notification: May 15, 2020

Final revision deadline: June 15, 2020

Projected publication: Fall 2020
