Neuroregulation of Cancer

Emerging evidence suggests that the Nervous System and its normal functions may be dysregulated by Cancer, specifically, in a manner that benefits tumor proliferation and migration. Neuroregulation may serve as an emerging hallmark of Cancer. Importantly, such Neuroregulation may take place by the Central Nervous System (e.g., in the setting of glioma or brain metastases) or Peripheral Nervous System (e.g., in the setting of cancers outside of the brain and spinal cord). The purpose of this collection in BMC Neuroscience is to highlight the most recent advances in the field of Cancer Neuroregulation. We invite the submission of manuscripts summarizing original work in any aspect of the field (pre-clinical or clinical), ranging from model system development to novel diagnostics to therapeutics that leverage the Nervous System to improve tumor control.
