Sustainable Technologies for Bioconversion, Bioprospecting and Bioremediation
In recent years, rapid economic advancement coupled with a strong population growth has put serious strain on natural resources. The resulting excessive waste generation and unsustainable exploitation of natural resources shows a clearly negative impact on our ecosystem. Scientific advancements in the last couple of decades has shown promising results in the direction of waste mining to value added products, recycling materials, and generating energy from renewable sources like biomass. But emerging ecofriendly technologies can go help in fulfilling the sustainable development goals by aligning economic development with climate protection.
Within this overall tension field this thematic issue within the Journal “Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery” will focus on the following areas.
1. Emerging technologies in the area of “Biorefinery” and “Circular Bioeconomy”
2. Innovative conversion options of biomass to value added products using biological, chemical and/or thermo-chemical processes and especially “new” combinations
3. Innovative biomass conversion processes for bioenergy production
4. Bioprospecting for environmental application
5. Food/agricultural waste valorization for high-value products
6. Bioremediation strategies of emerging pollutants
All manuscripts submitted to this thematic issue will go through the stringent peer review process of the journal, and only those that are accepted after peer review will be published. The manuscripts have to be prepared strictly following the guidelines of the journal; otherwise, they will be rejected. Please check the instructions to authors and the guidelines for submission. Review papers are typically rejected; they may only be accepted exceptionally if they are tackling a new question and / or providing new and in-depth insights into a specific topic.
Papers presented at the International Conference on "Recent Advancements in Biotechnology" (icRAB-2022) are welcome. Please indicate this within your cover letter. Selected research papers presented in the icRAB-2022 being inside the scope of the journal as well as this Thematic Issue and passing the review process may be published as part of this Thematic Issue.
