Focused Section on Robotics Enabled Inspection

Accurate and reliable inspection of engineered systems and infrastructure and component inspection has been critical to maintaining the functionality and integrity in areas such as energy, manufacturing, and transportation. Autonomous robots are promising for automated/unmanned inspections and operations which can assure safety, extend lifetime, and improve throughput of such systems. To help disseminate new findings that enable intelligent robots (including but not limited to drones, robot manipulators, ground robots, legged robots, crawling robots, and underwater robots), this Focused Section of the International Journal of Intelligent Robotics and Applications (IJIRA) is dedicated to the new advancements in modeling, design, fabrication, information gathering, control, and decision making of robotic inspection tools and related technologies with inspection applications.
