Abstract
Having compiled this book to serve a not-so-hidden agenda—to collect participatory techniques into one volume accessible to a large audience—we made unexpected discoveries. We planned the book to be for and about you, the designer, and to serve as a tool that enables you to successfully build community. We knew we had to find techniques to both reform and re-form the design process, the built environment, and society. We searched for and found reflective, experiential, and procedural means to achieve those reformations within the near future.
