Zusammenfassung

Abenteuertourismus hat sich als Konzept und Forschungsfeld innerhalb des Tourismus etabliert. Während der deutsche Tourismusmarkt einer der größten der Welt ist, gibt es bislang keine Daten zu deutschen Abenteuerreisenden. In der Abenteuertourismusforschung im Allgemeinen gibt es wenige Hinweise darauf, wie Persönlichkeit, Motive und soziodemographische Faktoren die Ausübung von Soft- und Hard- Adventure-Aktivitäten beeinflussen. Daher untersucht die vorliegende Studie mittels einer quotenbasierten Befragung unter 1.500 deutschen Reisenden Demographie, Motive und Persönlichkeitsaspekte. Eine logistische Regressionsanalyse wird durchgeführt, um Touristen in Soft- und Hard-Abenteuerreisende zu kategorisieren. Geschlecht und Alter bedingen die Ausübung von Hard Adventures, ebenso wie Extraversion und das Bedürfnis, sich auf Reisen selbst besser kennenzulernen.
