Abstract
In this chapter we present our main results about progress and lock freedom in the \(\pi \text {-}\)calculus with session types. We start by giving the definition of lock freedom for session communication, which is an adaptation of the corresponding definition in the standard \(\pi \text {-}\)calculus and we give a relation between lock freedom and the notion of progress, the latter being already defined for sessions [10, 20, 27].
