Abstract

This chapter presents a brief review of early research in the area of Gibbs differentiation until 1990 in former Soviet Union and Russia. We first briefly discuss the interest in this area in former Soviet Union and then present in more details a review of the recent work in this area in Russia. The present state-of-the-art in research in this field in Russia is discussed in two separate chapters that follow.
