Abstract
Corporations are demanding more from their management development programmes as the demands increase for greater management knowledge and skills due to the complexity of the global marketplace and rapid technological change. Though traditional educational and development programmes have utilized classroom-based, expert-led content delivery methods, today particularly in business education the traditional educational methods are being questioned and new forms of learning and development are emerging. In corporate management development programmes traditional methods are being replaced or supplemented by methods that are learner-centred, team-based and action-oriented. As a result, many US corporations are using action learning and finding it to be a dramatic improvement over their traditional methods for management development. They are embracing this experiential approach to learning and development through action and experience to build their management talent.
