Abstract
Temporary protection à l’Européenne arose in the context of profound changes in the asylum regime which had developed after the Second World War but it also constitutes a cornerstone of the new regime unfolding.
This chapter is an updated version of ‘Temporary Protection within the Framework of a New Asylum Regime’, International Journal of Human Rights, 2, 3, Autumn 1998, pp. 49–76.
