Abstract

‘Process thought’ can include a wide range of philosophies and theologies. Hegel, for example, is clearly a process thinker. But the term has been used in recent times to refer especially to the ideas of Alfred North Whitehead and those who have been influenced by him. In the philosophy of religion, the key figure beyond Whitehead has been Charles Hartshorne. In this essay I will limit myself to those who associate themselves chiefly with the thought of Whitehead and Hartshorne. This is the branch of process thought committed to cosmology or metaphysics.
