Abstract

Much effort is wasted due to a lack of clarity. Focus helps us to identify what is important. To pursue it effectively and efficiently we need to be able to align people’s roles and skills on the right things. Without this, committed people will do the wrong things right. A critical leadership skill is the ability to provide clarity on what is expected. We believe the key components here are:

  • communication

  • expectations

  • responsibility

  • allowing and delegating.

A matter that becomes clear ceases to concern us.

Nietzsche, 1886

Have something to say, and say it as clearly as you can. That is the only secret of style.

Matthew Arnold (1822–1888)
