Abstract

Over the last several dozen years oil extraction has been the Huaorani’s biggest problem. The lands they live on are rich with oil and companies have been expanding extraction sites since the 1960s. All ethnic groups in the Oriente are faced with problems regarding oil extraction and the Huaorani are not an exception.
