Abstract

Attending to sibling issues in therapy with children and adolescents can offer therapeutic value beyond sibling relationship enhancement. Working with siblings within a family context can help in the assessment and intervention of overall family dysfunction. Sibling problems in some situations may be a cover for underlying marital or parenting tensions. Including siblings in therapy in these instances can help in the assessment of the marital or parental hostilities and can direct couples to focus on the real issues they are facing.
