Abstract
Joel explained that Margaret from Mountain Bank had called him last month proposing to be partners in developing pork for export industry in the area. He knows her from a course they had taken a year ago.
We make the best decisions when we talk to people who know things we don’t and understand things differently. If NGOs, businesses, and governments can work together creatively, we can help all the world’s people live in dignity. We can all be effective global citizens.
Bill Clinton, 42nd US President
[Government leaders] do not realize that the corporate goal of profit maximization at all costs does not serve the interests of the nation. They do not realize that the fundamental goals of the country and of our companies have diverged. The sole focus on profit maximization, which leads to off shoring and holds down wages, does not serve the nation. We must act to realign the goals of company and country.
Ralph Gomory (2010)
Former IBM executive and Sloan Foundation President
