Abstract

Chapter 2 will present evidence to support the first plank in the argument: the nature of the global economy and the constraints it imposes on policy makers. The evolution of globalization will be traced over time and its implications and economic effects will be outlined. Evidence will be drawn from a variety of sources, including comparative political economy and official statistics.
