This chapter introduces a peculiar form of intra-European mobility involving EU citizens commuting over-and-back between their home state and another EU state, namely Euro-commuting. It considers the statistical significance of Euro-commuting as a relatively novel form of contemporary European migration, and the chapter places this peculiar mobility from the Republic of Ireland in a broader European-wide context. It describes this study’s methods of data collection and analysis. It also outlines the remaining chapters of the book.
