Abstract
To move forward in a continuously evolving global market, without compromising on what sets it apart is the pressing need for modern Indian textile production. Due to the pressures to compete on price and quantity, existing companies may rush into blind automation discarding the older less industrialized processes which have enabled an industry to survive for many decades. Though mass production may ensure earnings, it will be faced with increasing competition from other regions which aim to compete on the same characteristics. To be able to utilise regional differentiation and cluster specific skills or strengths in synergy with market knowledge will pave the way for producer country producers to feed into value chains enabling high road growth.
