Abstract
The final chapter of this book aims to reflect on the future. Previous chapters of the book have referred to insights on why adults do or do not participate in adult lifelong learning activities and how these differences can be explained by different levels of analysis relating to the individual, the lifelong learning education and training providers and the role of countries’ various social policies. The need for an integrative approach has been presented and discussed. With all this knowledge now presented, what recommendations do I want to make for use of my work in both policy and practice, but also as a starting point for the development of future research projects exploring the role of lifelong learning in contributing to both society and individuals’ lives?
