Teenage talk is characterized by its specific conversational style in terms of topic choice, the influence of gender, age, social class, ethnicity and contact, all of which has an impact on their use of slang, taboo words, new vocabulary and sometimes non-standard grammar, not to forget the very frequent use of, often youth-specific, pragmatic markers with their bonding effect.
